Renowned archaeologist  SR Rao passes awayIndia’s renowned archaeologist and scholar Professor SR Rao passed away on Thursday at his residence in Jaynagar, Bangalore.

Rao had two major path-breaking excavations to his credit, namely the Harappan port of Lothal and the submerged city Dwarka of Lord Krishna.

Dr Rao had carried out excavation work at north Gujarat’s Siddhpur based Rudramahal site amid protests of local Muslims. He had discovered a mandir within the structure of converted mosque.

    His work on Dwaraka is incomparable

    Dr.S.R.Rao was a famous archaeologist in India. who wrote many books in archaeology, particular in Dwaraka and Lothal. These excavations are very important in historical perspective. he defined indus script also. who found marine archaeology in India.

    S.R. Rao was the greatest Indian Archaeologist and he is my hero, teacher, Guru. I admire him a lot and read many of his findings. I truly admire his dedicaton and hardwork and passion. May his Soul Rest in Peace.

    His findings related to Lord Krishna and Dwarka have silenced all cynics of Hinduism. Please visit Krishna Museum at Kurukshetra and see the Artefacts found by him – related to Dwarka and Indus Valley Civilisation. You will realise what a great man he was – deserves a Bharat Ratna !
