Mobiles
As per TRAI’s latest report, India’s mobile connections base at the end of December 2012 stands at 864.72 million. While the active mobile connections, based on VLR (Visitor Location Register), is 701.60 million.
Top 5 mobile operators in the country are Airtel (181.9 mln), Vodafone (147.4 mln), Reliance (118.5 mln), Idea (113.9 mln) and BSNL (99.9 mln).
Usage reports of Opera Mobile and StatCounter put Nokia as the top used mobile brand followed by Samsung.
Internet and Broadband
India’s broadband subscriber base is 14.98 million at the end of December 2012.
Top 5 ISPs in terms of subscriber base are BSNL (9.90 mln), Bharti Airtel (1.39 mln), MTNL (1.06 mln), Hathway (0.37 mln) and You Broadband (0.29 mln).
TRAI defines Broadband as an internet connection with a download speed > 256 Kbps.

Good Research Thanks for sharing this, i Thought that average internet connection speed in India is around 20 Mbps. But it is 1 Mbps.
