India has extended immense support to former Maldivian President Mohammed Nasheed since his ouster. In February, Nasheed was granted Amnesty by the Indian High Commission in Male after a court issued an arrest warrant against him on charges of abuse of power. While India has backed Nasheed during the political unrest, it has faced the ire of the Maldives Government which has accused India of interfering in the internal affairs of the country.

Nasheed was known to be very corrupt n could hv started projects at huge cost to d state, like d GMR airport deal. Public opinion agnst him. No, he doesnt deserve our support, but how about India protecting its investment in Maldives?
