In a major development in the Italian Marines case, the Supreme Court on Thursday restrained the Italian Ambassador to India Daniele Mancini from leaving the country after Italy refused to send back two marines charged with killing Indian fishermen. The court has asked him to appear before it on Monday. The court passed its order in response to a PIL filed by Janta party chief Subramanian Swamy and the submissions made by Attorney General G Vahanvati in the Italian marines’ case.
