Situation in the highly strategic and sensitive Jammu and Kashmir is deteriorating day by day. If remedial measures are not taken immediately, the best opportunity for any action would be lost in the State forever and all the sacrifices the nation and our dedicated Army made during all these 65 years of the State’s accession to India will go down the drain.
The real threat to the national unity is not as much from Pakistan and a handful of discarded and unpopular Kashmiri separatists as it is from AICC president and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and National Conference (NC) working president Omar Abdullah whom she planted in the State as her Chief Minister in January 2009.
It is not Prime Minister Manmohan Singh who rules the country. It is Sonia Gandhi who has been wrecking havoc with the help of her coterie since May 2009 and planting her people at crucial places so that she could succeed in subverting the Indian polity and humiliating the majority community. P Chidambaram, Salman Khurshid and his immediate predecessor SM Krishna, Sushil Kumar Shinde, Renuka Chaudhary and Digvijay Singh constitute only a few examples. One doesn’t know in whose hands she has been playing and who planted her at 10 Janpath and empowered her to shape and guide the socio-cultural, political, economic and religious policies and control the Indian Foreign Office.
I am not exaggerating things. I am only making a statement and reiterating what the Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitely said on July 9 at Bodh Gaya. Condemning the UPA Government’s utter failure to avert the serial blasts in the temple complex, he, along with the BJP national president Rajnath Singh and other senior leaders, told reporters at the world famous Mahabodhi Temple, which terrorists targetted on July 8 early morning.
As said, the grave danger to the territorial integrity of India is not as much from Pakistan and Kashmiri separatists as it is from Sonia Gandhi and Omar Abdullah and the ilk. It is not necessary to catalogue here all the rabidly anti-India statements made by Omar Abdullah from time to time after January 5, 2009, when Sonia Gandhi appointed him as the Chief Minister. Nor is it necessary to reflect on the kind of support Omar Abdullah’s nasty and hate and break-India statements and formulation got from Sonia Gandhi and the UPA Government. For Sonia Gandhi and Omar Abdullah have been working in a perfect tandem, undermining national unity in a systematic manner and promoting extreme form of fissiparous and communal tendencies.
Let us straightaway examine the implications of what Omar Abdullah said on July 7 at Kanir in Cherar-e-Sharief Assembly constituency while addressing a public meeting. He willfully violated the oath of office and declared: “Political and financial autonomy of the State is a cherished ideology and goal of the NC and we will continue to work to achieve it” and warned New Delhi in unequivocal terms that the Muslims of Kashmir will revolt in the event of New Delhi not conceding this demand. By political autonomy, he meant separation from the political and Constitutional organisation of India. In other words, he committed an act of treason.
It would be appropriate to quote verbatim what the seditionist in Omar Abdullah said. Such an approach would help us understand what exactly he hinted at. Omar Abdullah, inter-alia, said: “Those sitting in Delhi and considering that participation of people in the Panchayat elections, qualifying of IAS and other All India Competitive Examinations by Kahmiris or selection of a local youth in Indian Cricket Team have solved the basic political issue” then they are simply living in a world of the past. “Some friends in New Delhi have developed the misconception that peace in Kashmir is permanent. I want to tell them that this is not the case and the anger of Kashmiris and peace in Kashmir cannot be taken for granted forever…Permanent peace and tranquility in the State (in this case almost 100 per cent Muslim Kashmir Valley) is directly proportionate with the resolution of basic issue confronting J&K,” he also said adding that this kind of “deceptive mindset is unfortunate and dangerous”.
His statements were nothing but a clear warning to New Delhi that Kashmiri Muslims will be up in arms against India or the Valley will erupt sooner than later if the powers-that-be in the South and North Blocks failed to read the writing on the wall. His fundamental refrain was that New Delhi must accommodate the aspirations of Kashmiri Muslims and address the Pakistani concerns in the State at the earliest failing which it will have to face the consequences. Remember, Kashmir Valley is the most prosperous and highly developed region in the whole world and the Valley leadership has been at the helm of affairs in the State since 1947 without any break. It is also important to note that the plight of Jammu and Ladakh is highly miserable and pathetic, as the Valley leadership, in collaboration with the Congress, has been evolving implementing policies which are not just Valley-centric, but also one sect-centric.
Omar Abdullah, who is ruling Jammu & Kashmir in collaboration with the Sonia Congress and whose separatist outfit is an integral part of the UPA Government, violated the oath of office with impunity suggesting that he is above law and not bound by what the Constitution of India and Jammu and Kashmir Constitution clearly lay down. Section 3 of the Jammu and Kashmir Constitution, like Article 1 of the Indian Constitution, says “The State of Jammu & Kashmir is and shall be an integral part of Union of India”. And the oath of office reads like this: “I…swear in the name of God that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the Constitution of the State as by law established, that I will uphold the sovereignty and integrity of India, that I will faithfully and conscientiously discharge the duty upon which I am about to enter, and that I will do right to all manner of people in accordance with the Constitution and the law, without fear or favour, affection or ill-will”.
What Omar Abdullah said got extensive coverage both in the local and national Press, but it did not sting anyone in the New Delhi’s corridors of power for reasons not difficult to fathom. On the contrary, a senior Congress Minister in the Omar Abdullah-led coalition Government and a close lieutenant of the Congress high command Tah Mhi-ud-Din pounced upon the BJP leadership the same and charged it with ‘dividing’ the people by demanding abrogation of Article 370 of the Indian Constitution that has accorded a dangerous respectability to the politics of separatism, based on fanaticism, and deprived the people of the State of even normal civil and political rights. The Congress’s scathing attack on the BJP and not a word against Omar Abdullah should leave none in any doubt that an insidious influence is at work to wreck the polity from within and outside by an unholy alliance between the Sonia Gandhi Congress and the Omar Abdullah NC.
