India remembers Pran, the ultimate villain
Reactions started pouring in soon after news about the demise of Pran, Hindi cinema’s undisputed villain and legendary actor, broke out. Several Bollywood personalities and political leaders turned to twitter to pay tributes to Bollywood’s master of disguise.
Pran Krishan Sikand, Bollywood’s most loved villain, passed away at Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai at 8.30 pm after a prolonged illness. He was 93.

“A gentleman of the finest order…an admirable colleague….a thorough professional.. a master of disguise in the characters he played.. a delightful companion after ‘office hours’.. and a considerate human,” Amitabh Bachchan wrote on his blog in his tribute to Pran.
“Final Curtain Call for one of the Most Loved Actors of Indian Cinema..an actor and a gentleman,” wrote actor Anupam Kher.
King of Bollywood, Shah Rukh Khan tweeted, “Why do icons who shaped our lives and emotions have to go away? U will sir, remain etched in our hearts. Allah bless ur soul Pran Sahib.”
Actress Madhuri Dixit tweeted, “Another legend Pran Saahab leaves us. RIP.”
Filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar tweeted, “Can’t get over the ICONIC PRANSAAB’s demise, Malang Chacha of UPKAR, Sherkhan of ZANJEER Simply Unforgettable Memories Part of Life Now. Extremely saddened by the demise of the LEGENDARY PRANSAAB, who revolutionised Villainy on Indian Celluloid.’
Actor Riteish Deshmukh tweeted, “SHER KHAN u will live forever-RIP Pran Saab.”
Actor R Madhwan tweeted, “RIP Pran Saab, A true true Hero, star and Gentleman.. you will be so very truly missed.”
“Thank you for the memories Pran Saab. You will live forever in our hearts. RIP,” tweeted actor Abhishek Bachchan.
Soon after his death, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi tweeted, “Sad to know of demise of legendary actor Pran. He will be remembered for generations. Condolences to his family. May his soul rest in peace.”
BJP leader Sushma Swaraj tweeted, “With the sad demise of Shri Pran, the country has lost an artist par excellence.”
“R.I.P Pran Saheb! Did not know him personally but heard he was a perfect gentleman with a heart of gold! May your soul rest in Peace,” actress Priety Zinta posted on twitter.
Actor Kabir Bedi tweeted, “Farewell Pran sahib, Godfather of Indian villains, your legendary characters illuminated the annals of Indian cinema. Deepest respects.”
