BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi on Saturday addressed a mammoth Barak Vikas Samabesh rally at Silchar, Assam. Modi raised the issues of lack of development in North-East region and infiltrations from Bangladesh at the jam packed rally.
Looking at the sea of humanity Modi said that he saw an unprecedented crowd at the venue in Assam. "This wave is going to become a tsunami and the Congress will be nowhere to be seen," said Modi.
Speaking over the issue development of Assam Modi said Congress has looted Assam that is blessed with natural resources. Modi asked the people of Assam to uproot Congress from the State and as well as from the Centre. "What does Assam not have, this is a blessed State. But who has looted Assam. 2014 Elections mark the beginning of the end of the Congress. India will become Congress Mukt," he said.
Attacking the Tarun Gogoi Government for practicing votebank politics and abusing human rights in the State, Modi said after coming to power BJP Government will abolish the detention camps set up in the State."Assam Government cannot rise over votebank politics. They abused human rights in name of detention camps. Several people died for the sake of lakhs of people suffering in detention camps. After forming the Government we will finish the detention camps. Some people have come to fulfil people's aspirations of votebank politics and others have come whose lives have been ruined there," added Modi.
Raising the issue of giving refuge to Hindus who are troubled in elsewhere outside India Modi said they should be welcomed here with open hands. "Be it any nation, if a Hindu is troubled then there is only one place and that is where the Hindu will come. Should they be treated in the same way as they are treated elsewhere? No we cannot," said Modi.
Narrating the achievements of Atal Bihari Vajpayee Government Modi said the NDA Government had made a comprehensive scheme for the protection of Hindus in Pakistan. What did Atal ji for Hindus in Pakistan? He made a comprehensive scheme for them. And the infiltrators who have come for political purposes must be sent back there. Right of people cannot be snatched like this. Only Assam taking in the Hindus from Bangaldesh is not proper. All States must contribute and they must get treated well.
Differentiating between the ways Gujarat and Assam deal with the problems they face at the border by Pakistan and Bangladesh respectively, Modi said Assam is troubled by Bangladesh while Pakistan is troubled by him. "Next to Assam in Bangaldesh and next to Gujarat is Pakistan. Due to Bangaldesh people of Assam are troubled and due to me Pakistan is worried," said Modi.
Attacking the Congress Government in the State for not doing anything for the labourers at tea gardens in Assam Modi said their children must be educated. "Why is Congress dividing Brahmaputra and Barak valley. Why different prices for labour working on tea cultivation. Children of those working in tea gardens should get education, opportunities," added Modi.
Taking a jibe over Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi Modi said his thoughts give the former sleepless nights. "I have heard when your CM comes to know I am coming he gets sleepless nights. Your CM came here a few days ago and made promises on things not happening for years. Do not trust Congress ever. The Government is Assam cannot do any good for you. Where was your CM when there were floods in 2012? He was in USA and went to Japan then. When your CM was asked he said I had gone to study flood management. Can we trust our future in such hands," said he.
Raising the issue of the development of the youth Modi said, "Nation and our youth cannot wait any further. Poor and youth are suffering. Youth from North-East have rich potential in sports. Why cannot we have a sports university?"
